10/100 Multi-Port Probe Appliance Overview
Network Instruments' Probe Appliance for 10/100 networks was designed to monitor activity at the edge of the network. By deploying the 4U Probe Appliance for 10/100 networks, you can monitor up to four remote links in real time from any location, saving valuable time and money that would otherwise be spent flying out an administrator to those sites. This real-time, continuous monitoring also allows you to identify and resolve problems quickly, reducing user complaints.

The Probe Appliance for 10/100 networks is available in two different, 4U rack mount hardware configurations:

  1. Advanced Multi-Probe Appliance
    Monitor multiple networks simultaneously, speed up problem solving with multi-session support, and define individual levels of probe access
  2. Advanced Expert Probe Appliance
    Offers the advantages of the advanced Multi-Probe plus performs real-time expert analysis and packet decodes at the individual probe level

Depending on the hardware configuration, Network Instruments’ Probe Appliance for 10/100 networks reports to any Observer®, Expert Observer or Observer Suite console located on the network for the most comprehensive real-time analysis in the industry:
